I’ll be back at The Urban Winery, 315 Stewart Avenue, in Silver Spring, Md., on Thursday, December 19, 7 to 9 p.m., where I’ll be playing with Jack Gruber (pictured above right) on piano and Percy White on bass. We’ll be offering a mixture of jazz, folk, blues and maybe a little country music.
For a sense of what you might hear, click here to hear my recently released album, “In Case You Missed It.”
There will be a $10 cover at door or you can purchase tickets in advance via this link.
Jack is a product of D.C.’s vibrant jazz scene, and he blends jazz with pop, video game and anime music influences. He is working on his debut album while pursuing a master’s at the Manhattan School of Music, and he was recently selected to be an artist-in-residence at Strathmore arts center in Montgomery County.
As the founder and leader of the Capital Jazz Experience, a collective of some of the Washingont-area’s most talented local musicians, Percy has extensive experience playing nearly every musical genre, including jazz, blues, alternative rock, funk, classical and bluegrass. He has played with nationally known artists and local acts and is an alumnus of the 257th Army National Guard Band. In other words, he’s really good. Military service bands consistently employ some of the best musicians around.
If you haven’t been there, The Urban Winery is a cozy, tucked-away place that serves more than 30 wines produced on-site as well as a selection of other hand-crafted wines, beers, and spirits produced in the state of Maryland. Their international wine selection represents other small producers from around the globe and features a wide variety of grape expressions for those who truly wish to explore the whole wide world of wine. And, yes, they do have a a light and tasty food menu to go along with your beverages.
Hope to see you there.
Jeff
