Next gigs: Mr. Henry’s – July 21; Villain & Saint – Aug. 13

2017 Villain and Saint7I hope you can join me for two upcoming gigs: one on Friday, July 21, from 8 to 11 p.m., at Mr. Henry’s, 601 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, D.C., the Capitol Hill pub and restaurant that has long been a spot for great jazz and other music; and on Sunday, August 13, 4 to 6 p.m. at Villain & Saint, 7141 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, Md.

Joining me at Mr. Henry’s will be Wayne Wilentz on piano and Scott Giambusso, two of the Washington area’s busiest and most accomplished jazz musicians. At Villain & Saint, pianist Jim Levy will join me and Scott, with Ele Rubenstein on drums. Don’t miss these guys.

Mr. Henry’s is a hopping presence on Capitol Hill, and we’ll be playing in the upstairs performing space. There is a $15 food and beverage minimum per person. Doors open at 6 p.m. for guests who are interested in the jazz dinner menu (prepared by Chef Thomas Bach). For that, Mr. Henry’s strongly encourages you to make reservations to get a preferred table. To make a reservation go to http://www.mrhenrysdc.com/live-music   or  http://www.mrhenrysdc.com/

Villain & Saint, which describes itself as “a Haight-Ashbury-inspired rock ‘n’ roll music hall,” which obviously has room for the eclectic mix of standard and not-so-standard jazz tunes we’ll be playing. The Villain & Saint kitchen offers “classic bar-fare of hamburgers, loaded nachos, chicken wings and quesadillas and “a standout selection of premium whiskies and bourbons, American beers, and a slew of signature cocktails.” Perfect for a Sunday afternoon in April.

I hope you can join me for one of both of these shows.
